Mike Horne has over 25 years of landscape and urban design experience, working across local and international large-scale masterplan, civic, residential, education, infrastructure and park projects for private and government clients.
Mike has been instrumental in numerous landmark and award-winning projects, including Central Park Sydney, Sydney Park Water Re-use project, Circular Quay precinct, Central Barangaroo Masterplan (in collaboration with Skidmore Owings & Merrill), Sydney Olympic Park, and Sydney University Public Domain.
Prior to establishing Turf, Mike worked on the Sydney Olympic Village Design Competition at Woods Bagot, before taking a role as Principal Landscape Architect
at the office of the Government Architect NSW. There he continued his involvement in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Park development, working on the revised masterplan with renowned American landscape architect George Hargreaves.
As an established leader in the landscape and design industry, Mike has held teaching positions at The University of Sydney, and undertaken speaking engagements across Europe and America, including the Royal Institute of British Architects’ (RIBA) Annual Discourse, Harvard University, and New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
Mike currently manages a team of 20 at Turf Design Studio, working across high profile local and international multidisciplinary projects, including London’s new £1.3 billion Stratford Waterfront (with architects Allies and Morrison, O’Donnell + Tuomey, and Arquitecturia).
