The renovation and interior design of the kitchen and den in this private residence involved joining two separate rooms into one. The client's goal was to allow more family interaction between the kitchen and the den, so the cook would not be isolated from the den activity while preparing meals. Since the working kitchen is totally exposed to the den, care was taken to keep certain features, such as the pantry, to appear less utilitarian. Hence, a decorative armoire was designed to hold all the pantry goods and dining utensils, maintaining the handsome room character in the new combination. We also focused on exposing the garden view and bringing in more light to the kitchen, which made it a very pleasant working space.
