In 1995, Ljubljana chose to build the new Športni Park Ilirija in the city centre—a sustainable, forward-looking decision. The complex includes a 50-metre Olympic pool, four sports halls, a museum, café, piazza, and event spaces. A curved 12,000 m² roof with photovoltaics spans all functions, enabling zero-energy operation. Restoring the historic entrance reconnects the site to Tivoli Park, promoting pedestrian and cyclist access. Ilirija blends sport, culture, and urban life, creating a vibrant hub in the heart of the city.
