Block 7 in downtown Redding, CA, transforms a defunct parking garage into a community hub. The project features net-zero affordable housing, retail, an office tower, a public parking deck with solar brise soleil, and Whistle Stop Park. This development aims to revitalize the urban center, drawing inspiration from the Sacramento River valley's agrarian structures and the Shasta Trinity National Forest. The design utilizes dark brick and weathering steel, referencing forest shadows and Shasta Lake's shoreline, creating a dynamic architecture that humanizes the scale across two blocks.
