The Tsawwassen Elders Centre is a two-level building located within the TFN lands. The building is meant to resemble a bird, poised to take flight over the water. The main roof, a giant mono-slope structure, is split into two wing-like forms that reach out to the west and provide significant weather protection. The building’s main structural system employs a series of Tectonus tension and compression braces strategically positioned throughout to assist in providing post-disaster performance. Cultural poles, carvings and other artistic elements will be incorporated throughout the building.
