Located on Awaji Island, the mythical birthplace of Japan, THE GOAT AWAJI is a luxury hotel reborn from a 35-year-old employee lodging facility. Inspired by the ancient creation myths of the Kojiki, the concept is to transport guests to "another world." Native trees were carefully arranged to block sightlines between guests, ensuring privacy and fostering a profound sense of seclusion. Traditional materials—charred cedar, kumiko woodwork, and 400-year-old Awaji tiles—are used throughout to ground the design in the island’s cultural identity.
