Inspired by the organic layout of Linpan villages, The Spine Resort south of Chengdu weaves wooden walkways through gardens and guest rooms, forming a rhythmic "spine." The lobby emerges from these paths, while the roof transitions from a dramatic high entrance to a low, curved frame for lake views. Sheltered walkways balance intimacy and openness—narrow beside gardens, expansive near courtyards—creating dynamic shifts of light and space. This interplay of compression and release blends architecture, landscape and human experience, crafting a landmark where grandeur meets warmth and tradition.
