“Unconventional, dynamic & irreverent” was how The Standard Hotel described itself. Conceived in Hollywood in the late 90s, they are synonymous with alternative pop culture. To celebrate this unconventional ethos, the team created an architectural abstraction of the Tropics-meets-American billboard within the quaint Tanglin neighbourhood, off Orchard Road. The lenticular façade of the hotel tower shimmers, beckoning visitors towards surprising twists of amenities concealed in the podium below. Inside, guests are warped into an alternative interpretation of pop-biophilia with a hidden oasis.
