The Majid Al Futtaim Mosque in Tilal Al Ghaf, Dubai, is the Middle East’s first net-positive energy mosque. The design of the mosque celebrates the sense of place created in Tilal Al Ghaf, integrating the Ghaf tree geometry into the fabric. Its design unites Islamic geometry, sustainability, and cultural identity. The Qibla wall features 630 glass prisms, symbolising the Prophet Muhammad’s return to Mecca in 630 CE, plus 99 for the names of Allah. Powered by solar energy and surrounded by native gardens, it serves as a spiritual, educational, and environmental beacon for its growing community.
