In the valley of Quito, Ecuador, this 450-square-meter family home dissolves barriers between indoors and out, embracing its mountainous surroundings. Oriented west to capture views and maximize afternoon light, the design comprises two brick volumes joined by an open entry that separates public and private areas. Its brick materiality absorbs and radiates heat, while white stucco reflects strong sun. A double-height indoor-outdoor living room, the project’s key feature, invites gathering with family and friends.
