Located near China’s Grand Canal, the Hangzhou Grand Canal Theatre's architecture is inspired by Chinese cultural traditions, and blend local cultures with contemporary aesthetics. The theatre is set in a park, and includes multiple sunken plazas that guide visitors through underground commercial spaces and exhibitions. The 1200-seat main hall hosts large-scale productions, making the theatre Hangzhou's premier cultural venue. Set against the picturesque scene of the canal's natural landscape, the Grand Canal Theatre is a landmark building that symbolises a new cultural era for the area.
