Avinguda Catalunya 11 is a residential project located in the historic district of Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona. The decision to emphasize the corner derives from studying the old buildings’ tectonic and the divorce between the structural elements’ function and their architectural expression, which took place in the 20th century. The porous envelope and the two-format handmade brick language amplify the variations of texture, depth, light and color throughout the day and recognizes the value of craftsmanship. A historical-material-technical dialogue is brought forward.
