The project of Valia-asr Mosque is located in District 11, Tehran, neighboring Tehran’s City Theater — one of the Iranian capital’s most distinctive buildings, and the intersection of two of the Tehran’s most famous streets. We found the main idea for the project in the first mosque ever to be built in the history of Islam, which had a peaceful horizontal structure. Having several Islamic references, it became obvious to us that this strategy had the potential to be revisited. Vali-e-asr mosque is an attempt to bring a peaceful, modest structure to the contemporary era.
