Working within an existing master plan, SHoP resolved the optimum use of the site with a design for two towers that lean toward each other, dramatically connected at the closest approach. A skybridge there becomes an opportunity for shared tenant amenities. It also serves as a critical service link, connecting the buildings' resilient energy systems. Reaching 48 and 41 stories, the American Copper Buildings house 761 rental apartments, all with condominium quality finishes; 20% are offered below market rate. The facades will patina over time, as the copper ages into a Statue of Liberty green.
