Built in the 1970’s, modified in the 2000’s, closed in 2014 by seismic concerns, the Trafalgar Centre is Nelson's primary indoor events centre. ISA has guided strengthening, master-planned connections to the city, and added a new entry pavilion as transition between garden and venue. A public building must support many uses, indoor sport, concerts, conferences, weddings, political rallies, even fashion shows. This new pavilion has no function, but houses every function; it is black, glazed, horizontal, collects the public and runs low into the verticality and noise of the stadium.
