Sited on an estuarine headland, the Encampment is two small-scale structures, set around a courtyard. Each building uses a combination of exposed timber framework and timber shutters, both with a natural oil finish. Minimal glazing is used instead, relying on the operable timber walls to open on to the landscape. The structures sit perched on sloping land that carries on down the waterline and are positioned to create a sheltered series of spaces. One structure for sleeping and bathing. One for cooking and living, around an open space for outdoor living.
