The clients did not want ‘another square box’ for a home. Neither did they want a house that blended in with its neighbours, reflecting a very human desire to be different. In keeping with maximising porosity thru the site, the structural elements of the house are showcased so as to not introduce further architectural elements of distraction. In short, structure as architecture. This was our attempt at an expression of honesty. This honesty – almost to the point of austerity – is a theme that runs throughout the design of the house, from the exterior to the small-scale details of the interior.
