The Douglas County Public Works building is an inspiring workplace that facilitates connectivity and unification of diverse functions through economical, functional and sustainable design. The building progresses from public to private and is bisected by a striated rammed earth wall constructed by the DCPW employees. The employees’ physical contribution, in addition to the honest materials — steel, wood, concrete, and earth — of the modern work environment, tie the work of the field to the work of the office. The resultant alignment of occupation and architecture is positively impactful.
