The Qianhai Telecommunication Center in Shenzhen will be the first high-rise Data center worldwide. Due to its purpose the building seems like one giant machine – a windowless case unable to correspond with its urban surroundings. To compensate this lack of interaction the lower floors hold an airy lobby and a post office, thereby being part of the public life. To ensure an attractive look the architects designed a façade with movable elements. It shows the binary code of the universal number Pi, where the 0‘s are designed to move with the wind, thus creating a lively and interactive façade.
