One of O+A’s goals for Slack’s headquarters in San Francisco was to create a design that merged the company’s collaborative culture with its passion for nature. Slack wanted the space to reflect the spirit and resourcefulness of hikers on a wilderness trail. Our solution was to create a floor-by-floor evocation of the landscapes that make up the Pacific Crest Trail—desert, mountains, forest—in effect to turn a trip up the elevator into a virtual trip from Baja to the Pacific Northwest.
