The site is located in Tosan-ri, an area in Jeju Island with beautiful natural scenery. Facing the sea, the house is perched on a slight slope resulting in two uneven ground levels. We sought to build a classical but brand-new type of residence corresponding to the natural and cultural environment and, therefore, suggested a unique lifestyle that had never been experienced. We aimed to reconstruct the context for contemporary architecture by exemplifying the essence of Korean traditional typologies as well as the reconstruction and transformation of the space structure in unison.
