Fleming College’s Sutherland Campus was established in 1973 in a park-like setting. Almost 50 years later, the college commissioned our firm to revitalize the 76,000 sf A-Wing. The process began by shedding the building’s brown aluminum envelope back to its steel frame, recladding it with white and yellow alpolic aluminum panels that give a clean and luminous appearance. To bring lightness into the building, we demarcated each entrance with a glass pavilion and added a transparent central hub that serves as a meeting space. The revamped building transforms how students engage with the College.
