The car park of the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam is a parking facility providing almost 2400 parking spaces. The parking is a major transit hub for visitors to the Amsterdam city centre who change here to public transport. The architects have approached the parking as a public interior: a ‘vestibule’ for the city. The design introduces a series of specific interventions, that maximize the contrast with the more toned-down generic parking areas. Corridors of light and color provide guidance towards exits and other orientation points such as payment area and entrance to the Football stadium.
