The Vidro is a six-unit building in Harlem that shows how small urban infill sites can help solve NYC's housing crisis by using design-based solutions to add-value, reduce cost and make compact units desirable places to live. The challenge was to create open, spacious residences on a very small site while complying with regulations intended for large buildings. The angled & faceted façade maximizes limited space by strategically adding floor area where needed and removing where not. The creative manipulation of the bulk, footprint and façade created an optimized solution with striking results.
