Parque Cantera occupies a total surface of 26,534 m² (6.56 acres) within the borough of Coyoacan, located in the south of Mexico City. The park is surrounded by high density housing complexes where marginalization and street violence are common. The main focus of the project was the environmental recovery of the plot of land which used to be a volcanic rock quarry, therefore the transformation of the space was radical. Social inclusion, accessibility and the use of eco-technology were among many considerations that were fundamental for the development of the project.
