A dilapidated, century-old building was converted to mixed use with two upper floors of office spaces, including a design studio and a coworking space for creative professionals. Occupants are bathed in daylight from expansive corner windows cut out of the north and east façades that cultivate community connection. The two primary elevations activate the streetscape with bold and playful graphics; painted drop shadows surrounding the windows create a three-dimensional trompe l’oeil effect. Baltic birch was used throughout in the sculptural staircase, slats on a curved ceiling and in millwork.
