Nestled in a quiet village, Atrium House blends heritage and modernity. The design reimagines Chinese vernacular architecture to derive a new model for community living. Inspired by the traditional siheyuan, brick-clad pavilions wraparound a central pool. Pavilions house various cultural amenities – chess, calligraphy and banquet – anchored by a timber-clad tea salon. Carefully orchestrated brick volumes form a network of pathways through curved walls and in-between spaces. When viewed from the tower above, pavilion roofs become vessels for trees to offer a unique perspective for inhabitants.
