The Bend performs the role of advocate committed to turning an unused public field into a vibrant public space. Situated in a progressive environment that understands how to mobilize its resources to enhance campus life, the idea of the design is to operate as an element of a broader social infrastructure. It serves as a social connector for unique public programming and informal, unplanned use. Consisting of a concrete platform, hybrid steel and wood construction, with usb charging capability, the project physically connects campus members, visitors and neighbors with an intimate gesture.
