The proposed multi-family rental building at 2324 2nd Ave in Harlem, NYC is located in a Mandatory Inclusionary Housing zone on a small urban infill lot that’s only 25ft wide & 75 feet deep. This lot has remained vacant for years because the technical, economic & spatial challenges of developing a new building on such a small site in NYC were hard to offset with affordable housing. Collaborating with the developer, the architects used design-thinking to maximize limited space & add value through design to make this difficult site project viable while adding affordable housing to the community.
