Geode ADU is a small Studio/ADU (accessory dwelling unit) that supplements and contrasts the existing mid-century modern Eichler house with which it shares a lot in Burlingame CA. Construction was recently completed. The client's brief requested a design that is an inspiring work of architecture -- both in its exterior form and materials, and in its interior spatial character. Our design evolved as a particular three dimensional volume informed by the Eichler's atrium void. While the plan is six-sided, the section forms a V shape, inflecting in relation to topography and Bay views.
