Nestled into the historic context of one of the oldest villages in England, the Bampton House comprises a cluster of modern vernacular stone volumes that frame a private courtyard. Individual forms intimately respond to the historic context, and their multiple roofs rise and fall in syncopation with the rhythm of the neighboring row houses. The home engages an existing 16th century garden wall of stone, which act as an experiential threshold and as a foil for the crisp lightness of the interior wood and plaster finishes.
