Semaphore is a monolith erected at a height of 49 meters whose dimensions, proportions and materials evoke the original Champlain Bridge which was recently decommissioned and replaced by the Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge. In addition to acting as a monument erected in memory of the demolished bridge, the resulting construction, as well as the development of the site where it takes shape, assert themselves as a public infrastructure near the St-Lawrence River. By doing so, the resulting project, becomes a contemporary witness of a bygone era where the present and the past coexist intimately.
