Shift House is designed for a family of runners who are engaged with nature during their athletic pursuits. The design of the house responds to their desire for a considered relationship with the outdoors - through formal spatial manipulation, six volumes of program within a grid are shifted to create an exterior envelope with a stepped façade, enhanced by a materially contrasting cladding strategy that emphasizes the different volumes. The shifts create corner windows, generous roof overhangs, green roofs, and two balconies on the second floor that provide access to outdoor space
