Rising 17 stories above San Antonio’s River Walk, Floodgate incorporates a 150-year-old retaining wall into its restaurant patio seating. Its octagonal shape keeps the tower compact, emphasizes views for residents and allows for more light to reach the River Walk below. A relationship to the historic structures framing the project is established by incorporating compatible materials, aligning with proportions found in neighboring façades. Floodgate includes an automated parking system and introduces a new pedestrian pathway to improve connectivity between the River Walk and adjacent streets.
