Ventspils Beach Lifeguard Tower is located in Ventspils, Latvia. It was built in 1962, in Soviet times, and was the highest point at the coast – serving as an observation point to control the surrounding marine environment. Since then, the view got obstructed by a large sand dune – the tower lost its initial purpose. Without regular use and care, it started to deteriorate and there were talks to get it down. However, having become a symbol of the little Baltic sea town, it was instead decided to get it renovated and open to tourists. The last such renovation was completed in 2023.
