Beyond the Roofline” captures Kia Lab in Qarah Ziya od Din, a city in Iran known as the “city of storks.” Designed by Davood Boroojeni Office, the laboratory emerges gently from the flat line of neighboring rooftops, a gesture that respects its context. Above that plane, the structure changes, breaking free from the regular geometry of the surrounding houses. This vertical shift is more than a formal move: it echoes the nests of storks that crown the city’s skyline, a natural architecture that has shaped its stories and folklore for generations.
