Níall McLaughlin's new library for Magdalene College in Cambridge starts from the simple gabled architecture of the original College buildings and develops it into a rigorous grid of bays, square in plan with an origami-like roof, that create a rich exterior of brick piers and oak window bays. Captured in late winter, the photographs attempt to capture the warmth of the brickwork in the morning sun and express the generosity of glazing through the twilight images.
