The Devon Bridge, also known as the Washington Bridge, is a steel trunnion-bearing bascule drawbridge that carries U.S. Route 1 over the Housatonic River in the U.S. state of Connecticut, connecting the city of Milford to the town of Stratford. It was considered worthy of listing and protection under the National Register of Historic Places, both for its importance in the history of Connecticut transportation and for its architecture, especially its five 100-foot-long arches. For my purposes, as a photographer and an appreciator of architecture, it is simply my favorite bridge in Connecticut.
