The Quiet House Renovation by Studio North sought to take an existing early 2000s typical suburban home and transform the interior into a more nuanced and relaxing modern home. This involved new details and finishes throughout, such as introducing the language of slat-clad walls as both an aesthetic device and a functional device for mitigating sound transmission. Nowhere is this new ethos more apparent than in the basement sauna, where the muted material palette meets minimalist detailing. The art of capturing it is in this subtle nuance of texture, light, and form.
