The Royal Festival hall - new views on an old friend As a kid of maybe 9 or 10 my late father used to take me to classical concerts at the Royal festival hall , back then the South Bank wasn’t as pleasant as it is now and visits had a degree of angst, trepidation and purest fear , Dickensian tramps huddled over open fires embedding images of their sooty biblical faces onto a young child’s fragile egg shelled mind .The music was beautiful but intense , had a power that was impossible to ignore but equally hard to understand. in some ways mirroring my thoughts on the building itself.
