In the hills of Slovenia, two feats of engineering cross paths in layered elegance. Above, the Črni Kal Viaduct stretches 1,065 metres and soars 87.5 metres high, the nation’s longest and tallest bridge. Below, the 424‑metre Gabrovica railway viaduct traces its own arc through the valley. Both are the vision of internationally acclaimed bridge designer Marjan Pipenbaher, their curves and symmetry forming a dialogue between road and rail, height and depth, movement and stillness.
