Aerial View of Market
This project reimagines Ottawa’s historic ByWard Market, proposing a new building for farmers and food vendors while transforming the existing Market Hall into a cultural space. The design integrates restaurants, shops, offices, and a food bank to bring sensory richness and social vitality to the neighborhood, exploring how architecture can reconcile spontaneous trade with a year-round urban presence. To welcome a diverse community, highly adaptable spaces create a layered marketplace where transient, small-scale vendors seamlessly coexist with permanent tenants.
