The landscape defines the presidential library for Theodore Roosevelt. Architects, landscape architects, and ecologists worked together to shape site, environment, and history into one encompassing experience. Visitors move through a living landscape that invites reflection as much as exploration. The building is of the landscape: discreetly sited along the bluff edge, sloping to meet the land as it opens toward the National Park, Little Missouri River valley, and Elkhorn Ranch. Visitors don’t just learn about the 26th president; they learn from him: to be bold isn’t always to be loud.
