Benjakitti Forest Park transforms a former tobacco factory site in central Bangkok into a 72-hectare urban ecological park and “sponge city.” Designed to adapt with Thailand’s monsoon climate, it stores up to 128,000 m³ of rainwater and treats polluted canal water through wetland bioremediation. Traditional Thai agricultural knowledge shapes its water systems and landforms, while native planting and preserved trees restore biodiversity. Reused materials, accessible paths, wetlands, skywalks, and public spaces bring ecological restoration, wildlife, climate resilience, and urban life together.
