In Yankedu, home to the Naxi, a local ethnic community in the Jinsha River dry-hot valley, climate stress, soil loss and declining collective care weaken the terraced landscape. A phased water-soil stewardship system for 2026–2050 guides lightweight, repairable interventions to slow runoff, return sediment, and rebuild terrace soils as a distributed slow-release reservoir. Within this framework, seasonal rites organize inspection, repair and renewal. Together, ecological infrastructure and community stewardship form a transferable model for resilient terraced settlements across the valley.
