Slow Flows reimagines Thames Estuary sewage treatment as ecological infrastructure and public ritual. Centred on Tilbury’s plant and port lands, design unifies fragmented sites into a wetland system shaped by drag patterns of existing concrete. Through phytoremediation and sequential wetlands, it celebrates site purification, guiding visitors through cleansing stages, and reusing concrete and ponds. This enables community interaction with riverfront spaces celebrating purified water’s return reminiscent of ghats. Restores respect for river, redefining sewage treatment as participatory act.
