Luyeyuan Stone Sculpture Art Museum was designed by Liu Jiakun of Jiakun Architects and completed in 2002. Tucked beside the Fu River amid bamboo groves in Chengdu, Sichuan, it is one of Liu’s representative early works. Built with exposed concrete and local shale bricks, the low-slung minimalist structure blends quietly into riverside nature. It houses a private collection of ancient Buddhist stone sculptures from the Han to Song dynasties. The layered, light-filtering concrete volumes create a tranquil, meditative journey that harmonizes stone relics, architecture and landscape.
