Concrete Factory Turned Vacation Cabin, Westfjords, Iceland, designed by PK Arkitektar — Palmar Kristmundsson designed a vacation home for his family in the region where he grew up. As a child, he played in the abandoned concrete factory. Years later, he returned to purchase and transform the property. Much of the existing material was retained, including the original timber structure, while gravel from the surrounding shoreline was incorporated into the flooring of the new building. Elsewhere, abandoned structures and debris remain, left to slowly rust and weather into the landscape.
