A haven for a multigenerational family, the L|J Residence is thoughtfully situated within a grove of heritage oaks. This highly sculptural home integrates with the landscape, creating dynamic spaces that enrich the senses. The architecture blurs the lines between the home and the natural world, and plays with diurnal shifts of light and shadow: views of the landscape are ever-present, maintained through windows, skylights, and lightwells; grasslike gestures in bas-relief dance across the structural elements; a koi pond slips under a glass bridge within the main living area.
