The reimagined St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts extends an open embrace to connect community and the arts in Toronto, creating the city’s first cultural district. Rising from its Brutalist foundation, STLC becomes a beacon of activity fully on view and radically accessible. The main theatre opens onto a newly pedestrianized street, adding performance options in the public realm. Creative spaces above lead to an acoustic hall and skyline views. With a shimmering, fritted glass curtain and guided by principles of Indigenous design, this will be one of the first carbon neutral theatres in Canada.
